Love

We are relational creatures and we are created to love and be loved.  I love to love!  And I believe love is a boomerang and the more love we give the more will boomerang back.  Light in a messenger’s eye brings joy to the heart. (Proverbs 15:30)  A joyful, peaceful heart is a healthy heart and the more love we can flow through our hearts the happier and healthier we will be.  A cheerful heart is good medicine but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)

Sure, love can hurt sometimes, but don’t let those hurts keep you stuck.  Learn, forgive and let go! Love like you’ve never been hurt before. Believe in love, take what you have learned, ask for God’s guidance and pray without ceasing (Colossians 1:9). If fear knocks, let faith open the door!  Memorize a few scriptures to help you get past or through the difficulties in life that hold you back from ‘Livin’ on Love’ (yes I love cheesy love songs).

For me, I often come back to 1 Corinthians 13, The Way of Love.  Suffice to say, even though I had heard 1 Corinthians 13 countless times, it wasn’t until I began to live in the richness of it, did my journey take a positive turn.  Essentially we are nothing without love.  Love is patient and kind.  It does not envy, nor boast and is not proud.  It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all, believes all, hopes all and endures all.  And when we can speak the truth in love, trust without wavering and share love in accordance with the scriptures, love truly is something beautiful.

God wants us to live an abundant life, and the greatest gift in this life is love.  The love He has for us and the love we have for others.  Be that messenger and bring joy to someone’s heart.  Maybe your amazing smile might be the love light that someone else needs at that exact moment.  Give it a try, throw out that love boomerang and believe.

Let all you do be done in love (1 Corinthians 16:14) <><
